A very common term you must know is the Net Value Asset per Share (NAVPS), and here is why.

Each mutual fund investor becomes a shareholder of the fund. As such, investors receive a number of shares depending on the Net Asset Value Per Share (NAVPS) upon purchase, plus the fees applied.

Net Asset Value Per Share (NAVPS) represents the net value per share of a mutual fund. It is calculated by dividing the net asset value by the number of shares outstanding.

NAVPS is essential as it determines how much the investor will be getting when he redeems his shares. Therefore, it is also considered as the book value, break-up value, or liquidation value of each fund’s shares.
